On Monday night, PNC Financial Services Group hosted its third annual pre-performance party during the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts summer concert series, in honor of the evening’s Crosby, Stills & Nash show. Two hours before the group took the stage at the park’s Filene Center, PNC opened up the nearby Terrace at Wolf Trap with a 1960s-style fete.

“This is a unique outdoor space since it’s a blank canvas, and you can really have fun with the design,” said Alison Fisher, senior event designer at Main Event Caterers, who worked on the event with Kim Alexander, PNC assistant vice president and corporate events manager.

Old and new photographs of the band and tablecloths with flower-power designs from Party Rental Ltd. covered the tables. The casual pre-concert party, attended by 44 PNC employees and clients, also included a buffet of organic food, such as Silver Queen corn and heirloom tomato salad, Angus beef sliders, rosemary fried chicken, and Georgia peach cobbler. One obstacle was the terrace’s lack of a kitchen, which meant Main Event prepared everything off-site before the event.

After the dinner, some guests decided to stroll around the park, while others walked over in time to catch Crosby, Stills & Nash for the 8 p.m. concert.    —Robyn Mincher
