restaurant and lounge stands out amidst Washington’s bustling dining scene with
a unique French menu and elegant, modern decor. Owned by Omar Opal of
Georgetown’s much-loved Café Bonaparte, the 2,400-square-foot space opened in
February in Adams Morgan and mixes warm, ruby-red walls and sparkling
chandeliers with a gold, pressed-tin ceiling. The light-filled main dining room
is minimalist, with sleek black tables and high-backed chairs, but the space
feels cozy and can comfortably hold 175. Downstairs is Le Metropolitan, a
lounge that features plush leather couches with red and gold walls and a
private bar. Booking weeks in advance for private parties (like Washington
Life’s “The Young and the Guest List” after-party on February 22), the
lounge can hold 100 and is fast becoming a hangout for young
politicos.
