| Grand Central Opens in Adams Morgan |
|
|
| Think train stations are
romantic, captivating, or a great backdrop for an event? The co-owners of the new
Adams Morgan restaurant and lounge Grand Central are hoping you do. Created to
resemble—you guessed it—the famous New York station, Grand Central features
an impressive arching, hand-painted ceiling that mimics the original. The venue
is the brainchild of owners Brian Vasile and Andrew Seligman, who were watching
a documentary on the landmark when they came up with the theme for the nightclub. |

The 2,995-square-foot space opened in April after being completely gutted following
a fire that destroyed the previous tenant (a restaurant). Two oak bars and
a sunken dance floor are now on the main level; upstairs, a third bar
is available for drinks and dining overlooking the lower level. A secluded
private room with a realistic cityscape design and a 42-inch plasma television
seats 25, while the rest of the space can hold as many as 315. Menu highlights
include surf-and-turf linguine and crab cakes. —Meghan Mullan
