On the day of the NBA draft event at Madison Square Garden, video game maker Electronic Arts threw a launch party at the NBA Store for its new NBA Street game for the Sony Playstation 2. The store's mini basketball court was filled with plasma screens and television monitors (from Scharff Weisberg) hooked into Playstations where guests could demo the game, which was for sale at the store. Stacks of speakers from Studio Instrument Rentals stood next to the screens, and blared hip-hop music spun by DJ Eclipse of Fatbeats, a record production company that also provides DJ and M.C. services for young, rap- and hip-hop-oriented crowds. The crowd of mostly teenage boys gathered around the screens to play the new game, and prizes such as tickets to the draft and the game itself were raffled off by Fatbeats' M.C. Sabac.
