Real estate developer Jeffrey Wu is hoping to covert the Bowery Savings Bank building at 130 Bowery near Grand Street into an event venue (capacity: more than 500), according to The New York Times. The ornate limestone building was completed in 1895 and designated as a city landmark in 1966. Wu's architect has presented plans to the Landmarks Preservation Commission, but no definite plans have been made for the site. Wu has also spoken about the project with the Cipriani family, the restaurateurs who renovated another landmark bank to create Cipriani 42nd Street.
