When the Big Apple Circus held its gala benefit, it already had an ideal venue: its own tent at Lincoln Center. Guests (lots of families at this one) got an evening at the circus, complete with popcorn, cotton candy and a boxed supper from Stephen Kennard's Canard Inc., as well as a performance by the troupe (which is a not-for-profit performing arts and community outreach program, not just a circus). An added bonus: Sponsor Winstar Communications set up an area where people could make free phone calls.

For the benefit's awards, Pamela Miller, the circus' director of special events, hired Robert Braczyk of RB Kinetic Toys to make original toy awards based on one of the acts in the show. (The awards went to guests of honor Michael Bloomberg and Lawrence Sorrell.)

Even though the circus has its own big top, it turned to Starr Tents for a few extra small ones for press registration and the gift bag area.
