Heavy rain and wind didn’t deter the crowd that gathered at Rockefeller Center for a preview of the Top of Rock observation deck and event spaces, one of the city’s most anticipated new venues. More than 850 guests passed a huge crystal chandelier—from Top of the Rock sponsor Swarovski—in the 50th Street entry to pack into the venue (which opens Tuesday, November 1) and queue up for elevators up to the 67th floor, where the main event space features a decorative crystal wall (also a Swarovski creation) and opens onto two terraces.
Among those we spotted at the party were three of our past Event Planners of the Year: Tishman Speyer’s Glenn Mahoney (the planner for this event), John Remington from sponsor Target, and even the man behind last year’s Republican National Convention, Bill Harris.
