Given the recent boom in hotel construction and renovation, it's no surprise that this spring brings a slew of new rooftop spaces. Here's a look at five of the latest outdoor spots; expect more to open before the summer is through.

1. Press Lounge
On the 16th floor of Kimpton Hotels' recently opened Ink48, Press is the lounge counterpart to lobby-level restaurant Print. Designed by architect Carlos Zapata and run by restaurant consultant Adam Block, the 3,000-square-foot roof deck is one of the few outdoor spaces in Hell's Kitchen and comes complete with 360-degree views, a decorative 20-foot-long wading pool, and a menu of light fare. Private events for as many as 300 can book the space.

2. Eventi
Also owned by Kimpton, Eventi is the latest addition to the north section of the Flatiron district and will offer 292 rooms and more than 20,000 square feet of space. Although its enormous outdoor plaza isn't expected to open until fall, the hotel will have a wraparound terrace attached to the fifth floor hospitality suites and screening room by its mid-May soft opening. The entire open-air space measures approximately 5,000 square feet and can hold as many as 500 people.

3. Sky Room
Also slated for mid-May, the Sky Room lounge and club occupies the 33rd and 34th floors of the Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites Times Square. Spread across 5,000 square feet, the venue will be divided into five spaces, including a terrace with a retractable roof. Architect Stephen B. Jacobs and interior designer Andi Pepper will decorate the venue with LED ceiling lighting, custom furnishings, and a light installation.

4. Rare Bar & Grill
Expected in time for Memorial Day weekend, Rare Bar & Grill's outdoor bar at Fashion 26, Rare View, is similar to the setup at the Affinia Shelburne in Murray Hill. The restaurant will operate the 3,000-square-foot space and serve cocktails as well as a modified menu of bar bites. Rare View will be available for private events, and potted plants and three viewfinders figure in the decor plans.

5. Upstairs
Redesigned by De-Spec and Pentasia Designs, the rooftop at the Kimberly Hotel is set to debut in early June as a lounge called Upstairs. With heated flooring and retractable glass ceilings and walls, the 4,000-square-foot spot is available year-round and serves small plates from the hotel's in-house restaurant. The entire space holds 225 for receptions; smaller gatherings can use the 40-personpenthouse room or the 30-person semiprivate patio.
