Bryant Park Gets a Carousel

April 10, 2002, 12:00 AM EDT

One of the city's favorite outdoor event venues is getting a new touch. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of its renovation, Bryant Park will get a new carousel next month. The 12,000-pound, 22-foot-wide carousel will have 14 figures (10 horses, plus a cat, a deer, a frog and a rabbit) and will be placed in a pebbled sitting area that is currently occupied by a lamppost and a bust of Goethe, according to The New York Times. We can see lots of kid-friendly events using the spot.
