Tucked away in the lower level of a building at the corner of Adelaide and John Streets (in the space formerly occupied by Up and Down Lounge), FOMO is an intimate champagne lounge designed to feel like a futuristic spaceship. Former party promoter Eve Fiorillo partnered with Patrick Hodges (of Up and Down) and Luke and Gregory Vitale to create the space, which holds groups of 50 and is available for private events.
"I wanted something that felt fresh and now. FOMO, which stands for 'fear of missing out,' really captures the rhythm of today. Everything is so fast forward and high speed," Fiorillo said of the concept for the venue, designed with a Tokyo spaceship theme in mind. "I wanted something that felt different than other places in the city, and the small space lent itself well to the spaceship theme."
The club owners collaborated with designer Humberto Garcias (Circa) on the decor, which includes a black-and-white mural by French artist Fabien Verschaere. The long narrow space has black banquette seating that wraps around the wall, which is lined with cocktail tables—also covered in Verschaere's designs—and Victoria Ghost chairs. An oversize digital watch hangs on the wall opposite the bar and a glossy black Plexiglass wall treatment adds shine to the room.
The lounge's signature cocktails are champagne based and space-themed, with names like Intergalactic Paradise and Cosmic Creamsicle. FOMO is available for buyouts seven days a week.
