2. VIDEO GAME COMING TO LIFE: Hollywood Reporter: "Los Angeles will become ground zero for Activision’s 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3' this Labor Day weekend. Activision has partnered with lead sponsor Microsoft to host the first-ever Call of Duty XP 2011 fan festival…Activision will secure a 12-acre section of urban Los Angeles and turn it into a video game fan festival for more than 6,000 gamers…activities include a paintball firefight on a life-sized 'Call of Duty' multiplayer map, an onsite 'Call of Duty' armory and museum, concerts, and panel discussions with the creators of the games."

3. ITUNES IN PERSON: The fifth iTunes Festival starts today at the Roundhouse in London, with 31 consecutive nights of live music from more than 60 artists. Headliners include Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Adele, Linkin Park, and Paul Simon. All tickets are free—consumers win tickets online—and fans can watch the shows via iTunes online or the iTunes Festival app on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

4. ALSO KICKING OFF TODAY: The Essence Music Festival at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Performers include Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Boyz II Men, Kanye West, and Mary J. Blige, and a series of seminars will be at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Coca-Cola is the presenting sponsor; other partners include Coors Light, Covergirl Queen Collection, Ford, McDonalds, and Pantene. Partner Quint Events helped create a V.I.P. tickets package.

5. OBAMA'S TWITTER TOWN HALL: Washington Post: "President Obama will host the first White House Twitter town hall next week, an event announced [Thursday] on (of course) Twitter. On July 6, the president will answer questions tweeted to #AskObama live from the White House via webcast. ATLANTA: Dan Nolan III, Sam Wodetzki, and Arnie Seyden have formed a new ownership group and purchased local companies Tents Unlimited Inc., Event Rentals Unlimited Inc. and Event Flooring Unlimited Inc.
CHICAGO: The Green Tie Ball will celebrate its 25th anniversary on September 17. Held on tented grounds at the A. Finkl & Sons factory, the event will offer tasting stations from more than 50 local restaurants and food trucks.
The Chicago Loop Alliance's gala will take place at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute September 30. Sponsors include Turner Construction and Pressure Washing Systems.
LOS ANGELES: The Taste, the four-day food and wine festival taking over L.A. Labor Day weekend, has announced new lineup details.
