Guests sipped bubbly to the tune of 18th-century music played live by a flutist and harpist dressed in period costume at the April 9 launch of the 1996 vintage Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and Rosé. Ruinart Western region manager Shelley Turner worked with PH Factor Event Design’s Pamela Haber, who created a space that acknowledged the brand’s roots: Dom Ruinart belongs to the House of Ruinart, which was founded in 1729. “I took the idea of the opulence of the era and incorporated it into the celebratory launch of the vintages,” Haber said.A pair of actors playing French nobility joined the musicians at the outdoor courtyard of a private Bel Air estate and entertained guests during the cocktail reception at a vignette set with classical busts, works by Homer, and other props meant to evoke the Era of Enlightenment. One of the actors went on to serve guests during the dinner held in the estate’s private theater, where everything from gold drapes to black-suede seats trimmed in gold echoed the colors of Dom Ruinart’s packaging.
