Patricia LeGrand is an event planner at Lehman Brothers, where she works on as many as 50 events per year ranging from three-day conferences to golf outings, client dinners, employee sales meetings, and internal recruiting and diversity events.
Venues: “I have used the HandleBar room at Shutters on the Beach several times. We like it because it is [at] beach level and has windows that look right out over the boardwalk and onto the beach and ocean. It has a bit of an odd floor plan but seems to work for a meeting. It also has an adjacent room that is great to open up after the meeting for a reception. We also use the Bristol Room at the Viceroy hotel, which I like because it has a nice little connected patio that overlooks the pool and outside cabanas—and if they are not booked up, sometimes they’ll tack on a private cabana or two to your space. For meals, we have long been partial to the wine cellar at Valentino in Santa Monica. The chef always prepares a special meal that he selects. It’s great to pair some wines from their vast wine cellar with the menu.”
