Appropriately, it was like an oven outside, the afternoon Fleishman-Hillard held a series of events to introduce Jennie-O Turkey Store’s Oven Ready freezer-to-oven turkeys, which will roll out this holiday season.
Daphne Shirley created a cool, comfortable home setting inside Shop Studios for Jennie-O's Julie Craven, director of corporate communications, and Steve Lykken, senior vice president of retail sales and marketing. The long space was designed as an eat-in kitchen with an attached living area, furnished with Shop's suede couches, plush easy chairs, and pillows. Shirley covered dining room tables with green-and-white-striped and bright orange cloths.
Food Network chef Dave Lieberman—who has signed on to promote the new products—gave a cooking demonstration for a small group of food mag editors and nutritionists. “Dave Lieberman fits well with Jennie-O Turkey Store because his philosophy is all about cooking for friends and family, and sharing great experiences during a meal, but not spending the whole day in the kitchen,” Lykken said.
To give guests several opportunities to see the product, the invitation listed three demos scheduled for the day: a brunch from noon to 1:30 PM, a midafternoon open house, and an after-work cocktail party. For the demonstrations, kitchen tools and ingredients were arranged on a kitchen counter, around which guests sipped drinks and finished hors d’oeuvres from Taste. Guests mingled afterward in the living area, enjoying a buffet spread of—what else?—turkey and plenty of vegetable sides, which left even the lone vegetarian present able to say she had a good time.
