Before a group meets, consider these new options for in-office eats.
Breakfast
The relaxed, contemporary American eatery House Café opened in December, serving food all day. Breakfast begins at 10 a.m. on weekdays and includes steak and eggs, steel-cut oatmeal, omelets, and huevos rancheros. The restaurant offers catering for office meetings—or any event with an earlier start time.
Sandwiches
More than a few Angelenos are glad to see that cult sandwich shop Doughboys Cafe & Bakery—which opened in 1992 and closed in 2007—is back. The ownership and management are new, but the menu items, recipes, and food preparation are the same. And Doughboys is now accepting online orders.
Sweets
Trés L.A. recently introduced its Tres Sweet line of handmade, bite-size desserts. The menu—which includes foie gras nougats with candied walnuts and bing cherries and Mexican chocolate and banana cupcakes with candied chili—works as an addition to a dessert presentation or passed hors d’oeuvres service, or the firm can provide a full-service dessert bar using clear and white acrylic cases and apothecary jars. Wholesale pricing starts around $1 per piece.
