Despite the bad economic news we've all been reading, one study says corporate event marketing expenditures will go up next year. In a study by the George P. Johnson Company, an event marketing agency that tracks trends in the industry, 38 percent of surveyed companies expect their event marketing budgets to increase an average of 23 percent in 2002. Conducted between September 19 and October 22, the study surveyed management and executive-level marketing and branding personnel in companies with annual sales exceeding $500 million. Respondents identified event marketing as driving a greater return on investment, ranking higher than advertising, sales promotion, public relations and Internet advertising, and 40 percent of those surveyed said the importance of event marketing for their companies is increasing.
