New York has some gorgeous outdoor spaces, but you can't find a better view than the one from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. And on a clear summer day like this one, the crowd gathered for a reception of the Council of Protocol Executives (COPE) was especially lucky to find themselves looking out onto Central Park and a stunning Manhattan skyline.

Knowing that the Costume Institute's exhibit of Jackie Kennedy's clothes from her time in the White House (which inspired the institute's annual benefit) would be a big draw, the Met hosted the reception to show of its numerous special event spaces to the folks from COPE, a group of experienced corporate event and meeting planners. The invitation promised a private tour of the Kennedy exhibit, and many of the mostly female group--more than a few in Jackie-style suits and pearls--turned out for the pleasant reception, which was hosted by the Met's event guru, Chris Giftos (the subject of a recent Impresario profile).

With so many big-spending event planners gathered in one spot, the museum's contract caterer, Restaurant Associates, put together a very pretty summer spread of food, including Parmesan cheese pieces served in a bowl made of cheese rind, and bowls of fresh fruits, including cherries, figs, grapes, peaches and strawberries. Another summer-style idea: slices of kiwi and papaya served on skewers.
