The late Robert Isabell's technical director of 18 years, Liz Garvin, recently launched her own company. ERG Intentio offers Garvin's technical production skills as well as her services as a lighting designer.
Garvin got her start as a stage manager at Manhattan's Palladium nightclub in the late 1980s. From there she went to Robert Isabell Inc., where she worked on events like MoMA's Party in the Garden and the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute gala and private parties for people such as Bette Midler and Jann Wenner.
“I have had over 18 years experience working in many places around the world, and feel that I have something to bring to the table with that experience,” Garvin recently told us.
Prior to his death last month, Robert Isabell laid off his entire in-house technical staff in April—including Garvin—but not without making a deal to enlist her freelance services for all technical work. Legal issues prevent representatives of Robert Isabell Inc. from addressing the company's current situation, but it has been assumed that the company will go on without its founder, and Garvin has plans of maintaining a working relationship with her former company while growing her own client base.
