1. Opened in Maple Leaf Square in November 2010, restaurant and lounge E11even features a menu of dry-aged steaks and other hearty fare. The lounge offers a 20-seat bar, six flat-screen TVs, and a communal table made of hemlock timbers. A private dining area seats 55 guests, and a second-floor event space holds 95.

2. Atop the TD Bank Tower, Canoe reopened in January after a design rehaul. The 140-seat restaurant now has new furnishings and a Canadian map wall installation made of paper-thin sheet metal in the 64-seat private dining space. The area, which can be used as one or two rooms, offers views of Lake Ontario. The restaurant is available for buyout on weekends.

3. Hôtel Le Germain reopened its restaurant Victor in April, making the space modern, casual, and comfortable. A new private room, encased in glass toward the back of the space, seats 40 for dinner or holds 60 for receptions. The main dining room can also be rented, with space for 100 for dinner or 150 for cocktails.

4. Restaurateur Ed Ho expanded his hold on the local food scene with the June opening of Earth Bloor West. The 18,000-square-foot space features a main-floor restaurant and 50-seat private room, a second-floor event space for 80, a rooftop patio, and a downstairs event and lounge space for 300. The entire venue is available for buyout for 735 guests.
