The dishing started early at the Gossip Summit. Guests arriving at Shelly's New York for the event encountered drag performers dressed as Joan and Melissa Rivers, doing their runway shtick outside the restaurant. Hedda Lettuce (Joan) and friend Jason Asher (Melissa), booked through Lettuce Party, gave guests a preview of the light, fun fare they were about to encounter, and they drew the attention of people walking on West 57th Street.

Upstairs in the restaurant's third floor reception space, many of the most well-known gossip columnists participated in a live broadcast for eYada, an online talk radio network. The event was moderated by eYada's Lori Kramer and hosted by George Rush and Joanna Molloy of The Daily News and Page Six's Richard Johnson. Panelists included Liz Smith, The Village Voice's Michael Musto, New York magazine's Maer Roshan and MSNBC's Jeannette Walls.

During the three-hour broadcast, most attendees avoided sitting in the rows of chairs set up in front of the panel, instead congregating at the back of the room, picking at some light hors d'oeuvres, drinking wine and chatting. (This was a room full of gossips, remember.) After the broadcast, the crowd went upstairs to the restaurant's tented terrace, where executive sous chef Holger Strutt sliced sirloin near a table of salmon and other heartier foods while waiters passed around even more food.
