Golden Globes night is famously one of the biggest of the year for splashy event decor in town. And HBO's over-the-top party often leads the way, when it takes over restaurant Circa 55 and the adjoining pool area at the Beverly Hilton, the site of the ceremony itself. This year's party—with an informal theme of “sparkle, shimmer, shine"—was no exception. HBO vice president of special events Eileen Rivard produced Sunday night's celebration, again tapping longtime partner Billy Butchkavitz to design it.

The look included design elements inspired by the early space-age years and multiple James Bond movies. Decor pieces included Sputnik-inspired chandeliers and sculptures that decked the party's lounges and dining decks, and a 22-foot-high wall of copper paillette draperies that concealed the existing poolside cabanas and created a shimmering party perimeter.

Outdoors, fire pits flickered against the rain—which came a night earlier than forecast, creating a soggy Globes experience. Most opted to stay under tents or indoors, however, making for a crowded interior and a decor heavy—but mostly vacant—uncovered outdoor area.

Copper-colored mokara orchids sprung from retro gold-leafed urns and vases in assorted sizes. Overall, the space had a metallic color palette done in copper with gold accents.

DJ Henry Self manned the DJ table, spinning uptempo music for a small crowd of dancers on a floor under a tent shielded from the rain.

The Beverly Hilton's executive chef, Katsuo Sugiura, designed a full buffet menu inspired by an early-1960s Hollywood party. Stations included dishes like whitefish, tenderloin, twice-baked potatoes, and Waldorf salad, plus a dessert and ice cream sundae bar. Servers passed the likes of tomato soup shots, topped with mini grilled-cheese sandwiches; some trays ended up a little damp after being passed around the rainy outdoor area.
