More than 1,000 philanthropists gathered at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago on August 5 for the 10th annual Blu gala, a fund-raiser for the institution’s rescue, rehabilitation, conservation, and education initiatives. The benefit, hosted by the aquarium’s Auxiliary Board, offered various activities throughout the venue that introduced guests to sea life such as sharks, stingrays, and live coral—which made for creative social media moments. Other aspects of the evening included marine-inspired temporary tattoos, bites from 28 local restaurants, and an aquatic presentation led by animal care and training advisor Ken Ramirez. The event, produced with Event Creative, raised more than $450,000.
