Since it first launched in May 2002, the Tribeca Film Festival has grown from a five-day gathering of some 150,000 people to a 12-day event that offers more than 513 screenings and expects more than 400,000 attendees. To open this year's iteration, the organizers premiered Cameron Crowe's documentary The Union
with a free live performance by Sir Elton John. Other live music included songs from Starr Duncan at the Tribeca Drive-In.
