NATIONAL: The Event Leadership Institute and McVeigh Global Meetings and Events are teaming up for “A Candid Discussion on Employment: We Can Work it Out—Together.” The webinar, taking place July 28 at 3 p.m. ET, will see a panel of industry leaders discussing employment updates, strategies for planners and suppliers who have been displaced during the pandemic, how diversity plays a role in hiring and more.
HALIFAX: In 2023, the North American Indigenous Games will be hosted in Nova Scotia with events in Halifax. The games will span nine days and are expected to host over 5,000 participants from 750 Indigenous nations. Among 16 sporting events will be traditional Indigenous games including lacrosse, canoeing and kayaking.
SASKATCHEWAN: The 34th annual Saskatchewan Jazz Festival will kick off Aug. 7 with headliners Wide Mouth Mason and The Sheepdogs, and continue with various acts through Aug. 15. Tickets are available for purchase now through the Broadway Theatre box office.
TORONTO: The Canada Running Series (CRS) has proposed an in-person 10K for 5,000 people, expected to take place on Oct. 17. The new route along the lakeshore will allow a challenge for runners while also not disrupting businesses opening up after COVID. The 10K is part of the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, which will be hosted virtually.
VANCOUVER: The Granville Street Promenade has been approved to take place for six consecutive weeks on Saturdays and Sundays, starting July 24. The event will turn the space between Smithe and Helmcken streets of the Granville Entertainment District into a vehicle-free area to allow for patios, public seating, art and musicians.
