CANADA: Three DMOs Team Up for New Tourism Campaign, an End-of-Summer Boat Party, a Drive-Thru Ribfest and More

NATIONAL: Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa have come together for a new campaign aimed at boosting the tourism industry. Called City Friends With Benefits and produced by each city’s DMO, the initiative marks the first time the cities have teamed up. As part of the campaign, Air Canada and VIA Rail are offering discounted travel offers between the three destinations.

Celebrity event designer Colin Cowie’s new book, The Gold Standard: Giving Your Customers What They Didn’t Know They Wanted, comes out on Sept. 7. Filled with “how-to” anecdotal-style stories, the book offers advice for creating an effective customer service culture that will help your business grow. The book is now available for preorder, and customers also get access to Cowie’s eight-part masterclass on customer service. 

MONTREAL: To mark the end of summer, the borough of Ville-Marie is hosting an outdoor movie screening in downtown Montreal. Taking place behind City Hall, the movie will be projected onto the wall of the Palais de Justice tower today, Sept. 2, at 7:30 p.m. The event is free with reservations. 

TORONTO: Where It's At Entertainment & R-Evolution Media are hosting the “End Of Summer Boat Party Cruise” on Sept. 18, starting at 9 p.m. The Empress of Canada will sail through the Inner Harbour and Island Lagoons while guests enjoy two indoor decks, an outdoor open-air deck, cash bars, a dance floor and live DJs.

A drive-thru version of Canada’s largest Ribfest is taking place at Burlington Centre on Sept. 6. Vendors will be stationed in the parking lot, and cars will enter through the Fairview entrance, where staffers will approach cars to take orders. There will also be live music, and volunteers will be collecting donations for Rotary Burlington Lakeshore.
