The historic Alfred I. Dupont Building played host to a bevy of pink-ribbon-wearing guests on October 2. The Passionately Pink for the Cure event, a program of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, was held to raise money for the foundation's work with breast cancer research. Camille Thiry Russler, owner of bridal boutique Ever After Miami, organized the evening's festivities, consisting of a posh cocktail hour at the Dupont followed by a glamorous fashion show featuring designs from Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, and Ever After Miami's designer Renato Armijo.
In a tribute to breast cancer survivors everywhere, a photography exhibit highlighted six courageous South Florida women. Another exhibit was also on display with mannequins outfitted in luxurious gowns created by the six survivors. The six also celebrated their triumph over the disease by hitting the catwalk in gowns by the show's designers.Following the fashion show, guests returned to the main ballroom for dessert cocktails by Bacardi U.S.A. Inc. and delectable treats by Aaron's Catering: mini ice cream cones, cotton candy, and chocolate-covered strawberries. Flower arrangements by Parrish Designs added a sophisticated touch, with pink roses and an impressive pink breast cancer ribbon sculpture created entirely from flowers.
An impressive array of donated items kept attendees engaged at the silent auction, as they bid on lots like Vera Wang champagne flutes and accommodations at the Four Seasons and Setai hotels. At the end of the evening, guests were treated to gift bags containing makeup from Prestige Cosmetics and issues of The Knot and Miami magazines.
