More than 30,000 guests spent the weekend of January 25 through 27 at Aventura Founders Park in South Florida at the Pangaea World Festival. With an array of international food, music, performances, and artistic displays, the three-day festival celebrates the many diverse cultures of the world.
Organized by Gladys Mezrahi of Indigo Events and Elaine Adler of the Aventura Marketing Council, the festival treated attendees to performances by many top performers and celebrities. On Saturday afternoon, Daisy Fuentes-M.C. for all the weekend's events, along with Miss Florida USA 2008 Jessica Rafalowski-presented a fashion show featuring her latest designs. Other performers included the D.E.Y.-a Latin trio blending R&B, hip-hop, pop, and Afro-Latino beats-Seals & Seals, and a special show by renowned artist Michael Israel. Saturday night offered a special treat for attendees: a concert performance from '80s icon Rick Springfield at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino. And Neil Goldberg's Cirque Productions performed their trademark European circus-style acts to rave reviews on Sunday afternoon. When eventgoers weren't taking in one of those performances on the main stage, they wandered amongst the many tents and booths, each set up to represent a different country. Food, jewelry, art, and more were available for guests to taste, try, and peruse. All the proceeds raised from the weekend benefited the Urban Search and Rescue Team from the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue department.
