A two-tone blue 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe from the Dezer Collection of classic cars set the tone for the ‘50s Beach Bash, an event in the “A Summer to Remember” series, taking place through August at the Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne. A mix of more than 250 hotel guests and locals came to the nostalgic event Sunday afternoon.
“This summer, we want to create events and experiences that guests will remember for a lifetime,” said event organizer Tatiana Lora, the hotel’s public relations manager. “Whether you were born in the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and so on, we can all relate to having that one memorable summer.”
Lora chose a ’50s-themed party because of the decade’s classic fashion, rock and roll music, and culture.
At Dune Oceanfront Burger Lounge, one of the resort’s signature restaurants, sounds by Sinatra echoed in the salty breeze. Guests could purchase burgers from Dune’s regular menu, but were treated to gratis cocktails, compliments of Little Black Dress Vodka. The 6-month-old brand showcased its original vodka and three additional flavors (cherry vanilla, honey pineapple and blueberry pomegranate) beginning at 3 p.m.
Strutting in 16 looks supplied by vintage boutique L.A. Boudoir, four models mounted platforms overlooking the ocean, posing like live pin-ups in everything from classic swimsuits to dated eveningwear. Media sponsor WHERE magazine South Florida was there to support the event, as a prelude to its upcoming issue, which will feature ‘50s fashion, including a shoot styled by L.A. Boudoir. Oldies by the Rat Pack resonated, thanks to SoBe Sounds, while Co Higgins Fellowship produced live renditions of big band and jazz hits throughout the afternoon.
