Costume Institute Gala Returns

One of New York's biggest annual events is back. Considered the party of the year by many in the social and fashion circles, Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit has had a rocky couple of years. After a sponsorship dust-up, the December 2000 benefit was moved to April 2001, and then that late date—combined with the effects of September 11—made it difficult to ask donors to cough up more cash for tickets again last December. But the party will return on April 28, 2003, according to The New York Times. The benefit will coincide with "Goddess," the institute's biggest show since the Jacqueline Kennedy exhibit that dictated the 2001 event's theme. Gucci will sponsor both the event and the exhibit.
