The world's largest column-less ballroom opened on October 27 at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center. The new 105,000-square-foot Cypress Ballroom is large enough to accommodate two jumbo jets side-by-side, or 13,000 guests theater-style.
For the unveiling, the Marriott placed an 18-wheeler, a bus, and a 40-person conference table around the room to showcase the space advantages of the column-less ballroom. In addition, they suspended a 19-foot Regal boat and a Cobra 427 (a classic American muscle car) from the ceiling, further illustrating the ballroom's immense size. Following the unveiling, guests were escorted to the Crystal ballroom for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. For the big event, Florida Coast to Coast enlisted the help of Jack Vince Productions and Nextalgic Designs to create two intimate yet different environments where the Marriott's 350 V.I.P guests could mix and mingle. A sleek and modern-looking setup greeted guests in the newly renovated Crystal ballroom, where contemporary furniture—including stainless steel tables, sofas, and white padded bar stools—were intimately arranged around the room. In another area of the ballroom were sectionals, couches, and accessories from Unique Option LLC's wooden Pacific Collection, producing a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
During the reception, a variety of culinary treats were served including Florida red snapper and shrimp pot pie, all courtesy of the hotel. After dessert, air walls parted to reveal a cozy and welcoming organic "after-glow" party.
The after party featured a hand-made cigar roller, a create-your-own truffle station, and a whiskey bar where bartenders assisted guests in choosing from the various brands of whiskey available.
