Vizcaya Museum & Gardens went white on November 24 to kick off the 23rd annual White Party Week celebration in Miami. The "Heaven on Earth"-themed party benefited Care Resource, a nonprofit, community-based AIDS service organization.
As guests passed through Vizcaya's gates, fog machines provided by RKM Designs puffed thick white mist into the air, creating the illusion that the attendees were walking on clouds. At the front of the mansion, which was bathed in projected moving-cloud formations, guests were welcomed to heaven by St. Peter-or at least an actor dressed like him.Inside, RKM had covered the mansion courtyard with white fabric adorned with thousands of twinkle lights, adding a heavenly glow to the property. Add to that revelers dressed in their finest-sometimes risqué-whites, plus wigs and fairy wings, and Vizcaya defined the white party.
In the V.I.P. area, guests enjoyed savory snacks from China Grill, Social, Blue Door, and Tuscan Steak. Among the hors d'oeuvres were crab cakes mixed with guacamole and hot sauce, topped with fried shrimp. A selection of sushi and desserts, including vanilla mousse, was also provided.
For entertainment, jazz singer Nicole Henry, Australian singer/songwriter Darren Hayes, and DJ Warren Gluck kept the crowding jumping. In addition, Macy's sponsored the Macy's Cloud Nine Casino, which was fully equipped with blackjack, poker, roulette, and craps tables. And to round out the evening, '80s icon Cyndi Lauper hit the stage for a special six-song performance.
