Tourists are asking questions. Those in the know are already planning their events. What—and where—is Diablo Valley?
At an event on May 29, Concord, California, Mayor Tim Grayson will announce the rebranding of the historic area nestled in the foothills of the majestic Mount Diablo in the East Bay area of Northern California. Renamed “Diablo Valley,” the region encompasses the vibrant city of Concord and Mount Diablo State Park. A major supporter of his city’s revival, Grayson is proud that the area defies visitor expectations.
“People from the Bay Area and all over the country are realizing that the best of California—weather, culture, great food and wine, and the beauty of nature—are all right here in Diablo Valley,” said Matt Hohenstreet, Diablo Valley board member and spokesperson. “Concord is completely refreshed. Meeting and event planners are seeing the area in a new light. They’re realizing they can get a lot more value here, with the infrastructure that can support a major conference along with the beauty and spirit of California that their clients love.”
Central East Bay Location
Known as the sunnier and warmer part of the Bay Area, Diablo Valley is 30 miles northeast of Oakland and 40 miles northeast of San Francisco, making it an ideal home base to explore the East Bay. With nine hotels in Concord—without East Bay prices—as well as convenient public transportation, it’s easy to plan visits to San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, and Napa Valley, all of which are less than an hour away.
Outdoor Space or Meeting Space? Why Not Both?
More than 75,000 square feet of expansive and varied indoor meeting space with state-of-the-art technologies is available. Breakout team activities, such as hiking, biking, and day trips, also add to the ultimate meeting experience.
There are thousands of miles to explore. Many groups challenge themselves with a hike to the 3,949-foot summit of Mount Diablo, which offers unparalleled bird’s-eye vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and Napa Valley. Others have explored the area on horseback, traveling on remote, scenic trails, passing through ancient forests, and discovering waterfalls.
