A crowd of more than 100 people participated in an noon-hour Zumba class at Nathan Phillips Square Thursday during an event designed to raise awareness and drive registration for Mount Sinai Hospital's Yoga in Motion fund-raiser, which takes place at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex on April 25.

Instructors from Flirty Girl Fitness led a 30-minute lesson in Zumba, which combines a cardio workout with Latin dance. BBK Showstoppers performed for attendees, and the Magen Boys spun tunes.

Proceeds from the April 25 event, which offers participants the chance to take part in a series of fitness classes, will benefit breast cancer research at the hospital's Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute.

Instructors from Yoga Plus, Downward Dog, Octopus Garden Yoga, Flirty Girl Fitness, and Zumba North will lead sessions at the event, which also includes breast cancer screening and a vendor marketplace. (More than 200 people participated in the 2009 event and raised more than $140,000.)

In another example of an exercise-class stunt, Cause Force staged impromptu aerobics classes at Shoppers Drug Mart locations in six Canadian cities in January to launch the promotional campaign for the new Weekend to End Women's Cancers.
