March 27, 2014: Oprah Plans Inspirational Arena Tour, See Parachuters Jump Off Eiffel Tower in Vegas, Burger King Opens No-Tell Motel

1. OPRAH PLANS INSPIRATIONAL ARENA TOUR: Oprah Winfrey is planning an eight-city arena tour for “Oprah’s the Life You Want Weekend,” from Harpo Studios and William Morris Endeavor Entertainment. The two-day event will include one evening of Winfrey sharing her personal story and insight followed by an interview-style gathering with guests such as Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert. Olay and Toyota are the presenting sponsors. The tour kicks off September 5 in Atlanta. USA Today:

2. SEE PARACHUTERS JUMP OFF EIFFEL TOWER IN VEGAS: Two base jumpers made a 541-foot leap off of Paris Las Vegas’s Eiffel Tower Tuesday in a promotional stunt for the property. Las Vegas Sun: “Red Bull crazy people/professional Red Bull jumpers Miles Daisher and Mike Swanson took to the sky for a stunt celebrating the 125th anniversary of the original Eiffel Tower in Paris. … The jumpers landed next to the replica Arc de Triomphe. Then they partied with mimes and balloon artists.”

3. BURGER KING OPENS NO-TELL MOTEL: As part of a promotion for a new chicken sandwich, Burger King New Zealand has opened a motel for people who want to “cheat” on the Whopper. Creativity: “Rooms feature booths and a table, and completely rebranded toiletries, dressing gowns, slippers and stationary. There just aren't any beds. Rooms can be booked to try the new TenderCrisp Chicken Burgers via Facebook. If your booking is confirmed, you and three friends get a room. When you arrive, you have to check in via Facebook, and share photos via #motelBK.”


COAST TO COAST:  The 21st annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women will take place May 3 in New York with host Emma Stone and in Los Angeles May 10 with hosts Halle Berry and Christina Applegate.

Wine Elite is now providing sommelier-guided wine-tasting experiences at Live Nation special events.

AUSTIN:  The Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival, April 23-26, announced its showcase lineup with comics such as Fred Armisen, Dennis Miller, Kids in the Hall, and Mike Birbiglia.

BOSTON:  Bon Jovi will headline the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Hot Pink Party on May 20. The event will take place at the InterContinental Hotel.

CHICAGO:  Pastoral’s Artisan Producer Festival is April 12. More than 100 culinary producers from around the world will participate, and the festival is free and open to the public.

DALLAS:  Lanyon, a provider of cloud-based software for the meeting and event industry, announced the appointment of David Bonnette as its C.E.O.

NEW YORK:  The new ÜberTube 2014 Brand Summit, set for April 29 at the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel, will teach digital marketing executives how to leverage YouTube for maximum brand impact. The event is from Pixability.

The Chris Canty Foundation will host the Champions Golf Classic at the Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey, on May 5.
