1. EVENT DETAILS FROM KIM KARDASHIAN’S WEDDING: It’s too soon to say whether the wedding of rapper Kanye West to reality star Kim Kardashian will set any trends in the wedding industry, but here are some details from the lavish wedding in Florence, Italy, which came after a pre-wedding party in the Palace of Versailles in France. Los Angeles Times: “Kardashian, 33, wore a Givenchy dress to wed before a wall of white flowers at the Forte di Belvedere, with opera star Andrea Bocelli and singer John Legend serenading about 200 guests flown in by private jet. As the sun set over Florence, family members, music industry notables and TV stars sat at a marble table in which their names were purported to have been inscribed in gold. Dishes dusted with edible gold leaf were complemented by $80 bottles of lush Brunello di Montalcino wine.”

2. AMFAR AUCTION OFFERS TICKET TO SPACE: The actor Leonardo DiCaprio offered a blockbuster auction lot at the Amfar gala in Cannes last week: a trip to space. The winning bid was $1 million, contributing to the record $38 million fund-raising total at the 21st annual Cinema Against AIDS event held at the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc. New York Daily News: “Whether it’s in the stars for the far-out journey to ever happen is unclear. The Virgin Galactic private reusable space plane is still being tested.”

3. NEW FERRIS WHEEL HAS V.I.P. CAR: The Capital Wheel, the 180-foot-tall Ferris wheel that opened this weekend at National Harbor in suburban Washington, D.C., has a V.I.P. car for riders willing to pay $50 a person instead of the standard $15. Washington Post: “It's black, and is outfitted with fancier seats and a glass floor. It also has a wine chiller and a DVD player. (What, views of two states and the District not enough to hold your attention?)”
