Aquera Agee, 31, works in Washington, D.C., as associate manager of meetings at Association for Accessible Medicines. As a 2019 40 Under 40 honoree, Agee discusses her passion for the events industry.
What I do: I like to say that I am the face of the conferences. I am the one you call for help with registration, exposition booths, payments and assistance in booking the hotel. I am also the face you see when you arrive at the event hotel.
How I got here: I started off at my association as the receptionist in 2011. Then, I would assist the meetings department with small projects. Slowly but surely, I became more involved with the conferences being planned and was promoted early in 2012.
Impressive stats: The business exposition hall has doubled since I’ve began. We had to start creating a waitlist.
What I am working on now: Right now, I am working toward my CMP certification along with planning the next big conference.
What I do outside of work: I enjoy binge-watching shows on Netflix and reading. I am a huge dog lover and spend a lot of time outdoors with my dog.
