How I got here: I received by undergraduate degree from Western University (London, Ontario) and then completed a post-graduate diploma in sport and event Marketing from George Brown College (Toronto). Before my current job, I worked for three years in experiential marketing and nonprofit events. I joined Event Spectrum Inc., as an account executive in 2011, which was acquired by MCI Group Canada Inc. in 2015, and have since been promoted three times in three years.
Greatest career accomplishment: On November 12, 2019, MCI’s head office in Toronto was severely effected by a fire on the premises. I was an integral part of the crisis management team, defining and actioning an emergency plan within one hour of the incident. I worked to implement this plan and secured a turn-key temporary office space. None of our talents were hurt.
Specific improvement I’ve made: We are in the process of upgrading our custom budgeting and timesheet technology to provide efficiencies for the corporate division, and will integrate the system with our other two divisions in order to improve cash flow management for more than 200 events annually.
What I am working on now? I’m in progress of obtaining my Certificate in Meeting Management degree. For my CMM capstone project, I am implementing an internal engagement platform that will allow our three to share ideas, innovations and event case studies, as well as build a virtual community across the country.
What I do outside of work: I’m a real estate investment newbie; tropical plant aficionado and Pilates guru.
