What I do: I work alongside our CEO/creative director to manage the pre-show marketing, conceptual designs, social marketing execution, hotel/show floor designs, show floor layouts, electrical grids and overall experience for
behindthechair.com, the world’s largest community of hairdressers with more than 2 million members worldwide. Our company produces the two largest awards shows in the industry: The Stylist Choice Awards and #ONESHOT Hair Awards, and a three-day event named THE BTC SHOW, which had 4,000 attendees from more than 19 countries in 2017.
Greatest career accomplishment: I have had the incredible opportunity to manage eight shows in the two and a half years of my current position. Among the highlights: In 2016, behindthechair.com sold out The Chicago Theatre for both nights of our annual Stylist Choice Awards. The same year, we created and filled THE BTC SHOW and #ONESHOT in the largest space we have used, the 600,000-sq.-ft. Fort Lauderdale Convention Center.
Impressive stats: I increased "launch day" ticket sales by 1,300 percent the first year I took over, bringing the total from $9,000 the previous year to $116,000, and then to $242,000 the second year.
Specific improvement I’ve made: I created an industry-unique event app that includes everything from scheduling to sponsor lead generation to inspirational stories from attendees' experiences. Within 48 hours of the app launch, we had more than 2,600 downloads.
What I’m working on now: We are working on our biggest show yet! THE BTC SHOW will bring 4,700 hairdressers from around the world to JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, where we will have a three-day show showcasing 18 mainstage classes and the #ONESHOT Hair Awards 2018 (the world's largest hair awards).
