Staceyann VanHorne Laerdal MedicalStaceyann Van Horne 33, National Tradeshow and Events Manager Laerdal Medical, Wappingers Falls, N.Y.

What I really do: “I live our company mission of helping save lives. My company produces medical simulation manikins that serve the nursing community, hospitals, universities, first responders and more. I am involved in planning about 150 events per year.”

How she got here: Van Horne earned a master’s degree from The George Washington University in events, meetings and sports management. She started her career working with NCAA basketball, the PGA and the Torino Winter Olympics. Later, she moved into nonprofits and worked with Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum putting on galas, product launches and other events. That transitioned into a role in the medical industry, where she now manages trade shows and conferences throughout the Americas.

Bragging rights: The wunderkind has designed two innovative trade show booths (one includes a ministage!) that increased attendance and customer participation by about 35 to 40 percent in one year. Under her watch, event spend has decreased by 5 to 10 percent each year.
