With pictures of transvestites and hookers on the walls and sex talk on the speakers, the Museum of Sex had to go out of its way to make its opening party as provocative as the museum itself. Event planner Shai Tertner of Shiraz NYC put together the museum's sexy, swinging opening, which spanned two nights at the museum, with after-parties at Lotus on Wednesday and El Flamingo on Thursday.

At the museum, Preston Bailey provided some gorgeous, suggestive flower arrangements of red and purple flowers atop clear vases wrapped with fishnet stockings and filled with small bottles of K-Y Liquid suspended from silver chains. The large arrangements sat atop small pedestals wrapped with faux red rose petals, and red votive candles underlit them for a sexy, louche glow. Boston-based Small Design Firm provided projection art that included soft-core pornography images interspersed with live, 3-D video images shot at the party.

The after-parties took the sex theme a step further, with entertainment by The Donkey Show and busty burlesque troupe the Glamazons at Lotus. And possibly the most provocative of all: a nude model with strategically placed dollops of whipped cream covering her nether regions decorated Raw Catering's pastry display. While the pastries weren't intended for consumption—Raw considers itself an entertainment company—the treats were gone by the end of the night on Wednesday.
