NEW YORK There won't be a Red Ball this year, but the Museum of the City of New York's Director's Council Winter Ball could have been called the pink ball thanks to the decor by council member and decorations chairperson Harty duPont. DuPont took inspiration from event sponsor Emanuel Ungaro's signature pinks to create a festive, romantic environment inside the museum's halls and a tent in the garden.
The white columns of the museum's front exterior were bathed in pink lights by Power Posse Productions, and the theme was carried inside in the museum halls where the company created a fun, pink glow throughout the hallways and gathering spaces. Cocktail tables were decorated with potted vine topiaries in the shape of hearts, and in lieu of candles--no open flames in a museum, remember--short strings of white Christmas lights were stuck inside small glass vases tied with bows of shimmery ribbon. Another pretty decor touch were the dessert table setups: The clear-topped tables were covered with a shiny translucent white fabric and underlit by white and pink spotlights.
Christopher Ford--a younger version of classy society DJ Tom Finn--spun an eclectic mix of festive party music under the tent that was kept comfortably warm by heaters from Cabaret Tent Rental. For those who wanted to dance the night away to more traditional dance music, a group from the Alex Donner Orchestras worked their magic inside the museum.
