Event Planners Pick Michelle Obama as Ideal Red-Carpet Celebrity for 2011

First Lady Beats Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Snooki, and Sarah Palin

New York—January 3, 2011—Professional event planners chose Michelle Obama as their top choice to walk the red carpet at an event in 2011 in an exclusive reader survey conducted by BizBash, the leading trade media for the event industry. Twenty-five percent of readers choice Mrs. Obama over a list of celebrities that included Angelina Jolie, Kim Kardashian, the Jonas Brothers, and the cast of Jersey Shore.

"I suspect our readers choose the first lady because of her personal style, but also because she has an authenticity about the projects that she gets behind," said BizBash editor in chief Chad Kaydo. "If you saw her at an event, you would feel she genuinely believed in its purpose. And unlike the Jersey Shore cast, she doesn't go wherever she can pick up a check."

The second-place choice was another political player, former president Bill Clinton, with 12 percent. The only other political person on the list, Sarah Palin, won just 2 percent of the votes. Lady Gaga came in third, with 12 percent.

BizBash conducted the survey online December 15 to 20, with 567 readers responding.
