On September 18, 2014, CBS Corporation hosted the premiere of “Madam Secretary” at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington, D.C. More than 200 guests were in attendance, including executive producer Morgan Freeman and cast members Téa Leoni and Tim Daly. CBS believed the screening was an important opportunity to bring together former and current administration officials, policy makers, media members, and other key figures to discuss the true-to-life portrayal of American politics and policies on the show and how to engage more audiences on these vital matters.
USIP’s Frank C. Carlucci III Auditorium is a full-service theater capable of hosting film screenings, event broadcasts, keynote speeches, corporate launches, and videoconferences. All in-house equipment is designed for ease of use, so presenters can focus on getting their message across.
In preparation for the CBS premiere, USIP’s audiovisual services played a major role in the success of the evening.
Highly skilled technical professionals, including A1 audio, video redundancy system, and projection switching techs, extended the most advanced equipment for ultimate impact, incorporating high-definition screens and the latest projectors, audio systems, and computer and video displays. Presentation components including the Christie Roadster HDX 12k projector for HD digital video projection and the PlaybackPro Plus for uncompressed Apple ProRes 4:2:2 HD video playback were used to provide main presentation support. The TRX151 LCR audio playback system with Bag End D12E-DA subwoofers and Yamaha LS9 mixer were used for audio reinforcements and to mix and distribute audio for video and speech presentation. To accommodate the increased guest count, AV experts streamed live video feeds using the NewTek Tricaster and MediaStar IPTV system, providing additional viewing solutions throughout multiple rooms within the institute. USIP’s “Switch” service was available to send a direct uncompressed HD video feed of the event to the local CBS affiliates. This convenience connected the venue to news outlets directly as an alternative to satellite transmission services.
With technical capabilities that can extend into the interior and exterior of the building, USIP can provide the right technology for every application.
