Socialites Sorry About Winter Antiques Show Venue

January 18, 2002, 12:00 AM EST

This month's big benefit, the Winter Antiques Show opening night party, has been pushed out of its traditional venue, and some of its pampered guests are complaining, according to The New York Post's Page Six. The Seventh Regiment Armory has been taken over by the National Guard--there's a war on, you know--so chairs Katie Couric and architect Richard Meier will head over to what the Post calls the “somewhat d?class?” Hilton New York on Saturday night. “You have to ride an escalator, and there are gross people in the lobby,” one society type sniped to the tab. But tactful Susan Magrino Agency publicist Scott Currie told the Post, “The Hilton is actually a larger space, and Elle Decor, the opening-night host, has helped decorate it fabulously.” We'll see.
