At the Technology Exchange Week New York (Techxny) conference and trade show at Javits Center, the first thing exhibit-goers saw was Sony's huge, colorful display sign with a shifting rainbow of lights that shined on the company logo. Behind the first wall was the digital camera and camcorder “shooting gallery,” a brightly-colored moving display that attendees could photograph to see the cameras' color and image display qualities.

Other sections of Sony's booth included mock interiors of an airplane, taxi cab and home office set up to show off the size, versatility and portability of the company's Vaio line of laptop computers. Best of all: Aside from the creative, well thought-out design and eyeful of colors that Sony's booth offered convention-goers, there was nary a steel pipe in sight, making it stand out from the rest of the pipe-constructed booths that overpopulated the show. Sony's entire display was designed by Blumlein Associates, and built by the Structural Display Company.
