Publisher G & J USA threw a swank cocktail party for Suzanne Slesin, the new editor in chief of the recently relaunched Homestyle magazine, at Cellar Bar, the bar and lounge in the new Bryant Park Hotel.
A fashionable crowd of interior design, advertising and media folks crowded the subterranean space. The new bar is a sleek take on a medieval castle, with golden leather couches, arched ceilings and a DJ booth (which went unused at this party) in the center of the room. Another interesting touch: Lights shining on the wall behind the bar make it change colors from deep blues and greens to reds and purples.
Slesin, who has been on the job for a mere two weeks, was introduced to the crowd by Homestyle publisher William Ming Li. Both made a few brief remarks about the future of the magazine, and guests spent the rest of the time enjoying the striking, original space--a nice choice for a crowd of people clearly interested in interior design.
