Names: Adette Contreras, Liz Castelli, and Erica Taylor Haskins, founding partners, Tinsel & Twine, Brooklyn, New York
Launchpad: The trio of friends—who were previously in advertising, Web design, and education—met over cocktails in 2011 and launched a plan: They’d take their shared love of design and channel it into an event-styling business.
Clients: The Brooklyn, New York-based group has since designed events for Squarespace, GQ, L’Oréal, Estée Lauder, and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Signature style: “Our style is a bit like musical improvisation,” Castelli says. “We encourage our team of designers to play and create work that feels organic, natural, and fluid.”
Design inspiration: “I really admire the two Davids: David Stark and David Beahm,” Haskins says. “Both of their teams consistently create work that feels transformative, inventive, and immersive.”
What’s next: The team hopes to expand to other markets and is eyeing Los Angeles and Paris.
