Christina Kaye Murphy joined the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation in October as director of events and celebrity relations but has been in the event planning industry for eight years. She manages all talent booking for the organization and produces all Starlight Starbright events for the Los Angeles chapter, including the Stellar Night gala, which took place last week.

Entertainment: “I have watched Perry Smith go from a student musician to a full-fledged professional. His team is really talented, and he always works with what I need—big or small. He can do cool jazz, funk, or just nice ambient background music.”

Graphic Design: “Jill Franks does beautiful and creative work and is an excellent source for ideas and concepts. She can definitely take what I’m thinking and turn it into a functional, gorgeous piece.” Production: “Shomer & Associates. Amy is the ultimate professional and has the most incredible ability to take an idea or vision from concept to reality. She appreciates the budgetary constraints of nonprofits and maximizes every dollar spent. Plus, she is a delightful and calming influence in those last crazy minutes.”

Rentals:
“Town and Country Event Rentals is an amazing source for the nuts and bolts of event production. Plus, they have an amazing selection of items. Most of their stock is close to brand-new, so I never have to worry about sending something back because it looks shabby. Stacy Lee is like my right hand when it comes to event install and design. She just gets it, and she never lets me down.”

Lighting: “Airstar Space Lighting. Their work is functional and beautiful. They have cool and unique lighting products no matter what you need them for. They are easy to work with; load-in is a breeze, and they have really professional, attentive on-site staff during events."

Florist: “Dellarobbia Design in Santa Monica. Jolene and her staff are amazing floral designers who can work with a limited floral budget. She never gets tired of taking calls, answering questions, or changing an order. The Dellarobbia shop is a great place to visit for ideas and to see their beautiful work in real life.”

Gifts: “So-Cal Trophy and Herman Berman. Both are well-stocked shops. However, if you have the budget, go Swarovski, without question. Their pieces always look amazing.”

Catering: “The Kitchen for Exploring Foods—the gold standard for event catering. Peggy Dark and her crew are nothing short of amazing. The food is delicious, and the display and service are unmatched.”

Linens: “BBJ has a great selection and inventory. [They're] really nice to deal with, and I love to pop into their showroom to see the gorgeous tablescapes for inspiration.”

Photo Booth: “Get Flipped provides a green-screen photo booth, which is always a hit with kids and adults. They can customize the screen to include your logo or other cool features.”

Printing: “Greens Printing. Janet Green is great for those jobs where you know you’ll have a lot of changes at the last minute. She never blinks at driving another proof to your office. They are a reasonably priced but high-quality shop.”

Venue: “Beverly Wilshire, Four Seasons. James Cutfield is so good at what he does. The hotel itself has a gorgeous Hollywood glamour, and the catering staff is always easy to work with. The food is delicious, and Swank does a great job with audiovisual needs.”
