Hotel impresario Ian Schrager has finally opened his long-awaited Hudson Hotel. It's gorgeous-no surprise here--but this time Schrager and design legend Philippe Starck dropped the minimalism of the Royalton and Paramount. The Hudson feels like a giant Gothic log cabin (trust us). The in-house restaurant, the Hudson Cafeteria (run by Jeffrey Chodorow) boasts an open kitchen, loads of exposed brick and communal seating. There's also the collegiate-looking Library Bar with a purple-velvet pool table, a lobby bar with a yellow-green floor lit from below, and a large terrace that looks like a flea market of international furniture. Upstairs: three more terraces and eight other rooms for special events.
