The final-season premiere of Boardwalk Empire was held on September 3 at Cipriani at Grand Central Terminal. It was the third consecutive year that the venue hosted the event. For the series’ entire five-year run, Robert D'Alessandro of Invision Events Inc. has collaborated with HBO's president of special events, Michael McMorrow, to celebrate each new season with a fete befitting the show’s era.
Winner of the 2010 BizBash Event Style Award for Best Event Design for the Boardwalk Empire series debut at Rockefeller Center, Invision Events has continued to produce a lavish atmosphere, transporting guests to the elegance of the 1920s.
For the season finale’s premiere, guests celebrated the series in an enchanted “seaside” boardwalk and were greeted by vintage bathing beauties and a flapper bathed in gold and dressed in champagne-filled flutes.
An incredible boardwalk replica created, by Largent Studios, set the scene for the event. Featuring a palette of turquoise, gold, and contrasting patterns of black and white stripes, the Invision Events team brought the Boardwalk-era to life, creating an exotic ambiance complete with shimmering mermaids, snake charmers, and extravagant details designed to capture the allure of the time.
Tabletops were dressed with an array of hand-painted carousel horses, candelabras bedecked with opulent tassels, and gorgeous florals embellished with ostrich plumes. Guests lounged on sequin-covered sofas and were offered “Prohibition cupcakes” and branded whirly pops, served by flamboyant cigarette girls.
A sweet ending to a beloved Boardwalk Empire.
